Princess_Shawna to my shame, I do not proofread my stories at all, hence the many typos and grammatical errors. I do sit down at the keyboard and try to just write down the movie running through my mind.
I had no actual experience in writing stories, even less so in English, when I sat down and started writing “Pirates” I just had one single picture in mind that I wanted to get to, everything else just happened because I needed it to logically occur on the way to my fantasy image. My problem is the verbal diarrhea, causing my stories to be on the lengthy side. Short ones are the real challenge.
My suggestion, if this is interesting to you, don’t try for something long. There used to be a challenge on RU to express something in 150 words or less. It’s a nice way of breaking the habit to say, oh I can’t write, I don’t have time.
You have fantasy, you have an excellent command of language, just give it a try you will find it is fun. It’s a thrill like very few others hearing something nice about something you wrote.
