Chat is borked

I can’t seem to get Chat to work at all. Every time I try, I get a “Connection closed! Reconnect?” message (clicking it seems to make it attempt to reload Chat, but always with the same result).

I’ve had this problem a few times, but never as bad as this.

Tech details - Firefox on MacOS.

Marg No luck - I keep trying but it’s not working.

I’ve also tried on different devices/OSes and no luck. I could try a different browser, but I’m not really going to open a separate browser just for one thing like this.

I have it on good authority that a certain someone may be working on a solution to this. We’ve been limited to the chat programs we can use as of now to ones that we can host privately and integrate with Flarum….which isn’t many. And they all have their problems.

It is our hope that we might be able to come up with a way to be able to use a more stable and functional chat system that is still private AND isn’t a total pain to login to from our site.

Bear in mind this isn’t going to be a quick fix because we are having to come up with our own code (?) (Forgive me @ZipTiesThatBind if I don’t use the correct techno-wizard speak) in order to give us access to more stable chat systems. But we are aware and we are trying!!

Well, something has changed somewhere because for the first time in weeks, Chat has let me in (and first try, too).

But the bug has occurred often enough in the past that I still will be very happy when the coding is done.

Many thanks to all the admin, mods etc for putting in so much effort on this place 😘
