There are numerous references to Admin and Moderators.

It would be nice to have a list of who they are and their roles.

@Enchantress and myself are the admins, and we have no moderators at this stage. You can always look up who is in which groups in the User Directory.

I can chime in with a little more information. Admins have broad capabilities on the forum, with access to the control panels and the ability to make changes. I pay for the site and @ZipTiesThatBind works his magical techno-wizardry to keep it running smoothly.

Moderators - as mentioned, no moderators exist as of yet. We had expected more time before this site was needed, frankly. When we DO appoint moderators, their abilities will consist of the usual forum mod duties. Warnings, locking threads, removing inappropriate posts, posts that don’t follow the rules, and so forth. Moderators will NOT have access to the member information at any time. Moderators will NOT be exempt from following the rules themselves, and will be held to a higher standard of conduct as representatives of our forum.

Tag Janitors - Members who will be appointed to add/remove tags in the fiction section as appropriate. This is a new style of forum that takes some getting used to and stories will inevitably be posted that are not tagged correctly. These members do NOT have any capability beyond tag modification, and also do not have access to member information.

I hope that clarifies the types of roles we have here, and the capabilities of each. We may very well end up having to create new ones as the site develops. Also, welcome to The Black Van 👋

Will moderators have access to PM discussions and messages in Chat whispers, or will that ability be reserved to Admins? Like could moderators read my private messages?

And I’d like to add to that as well -

We really DON’T want to read your PM’s and chats. Really…. Please please please don’t give us a reason to have to do so because we really really don’t want to and it’s a giant pain in the ass. So as long as nobody is reported for an offense that has to be investigated (screen shots of reportable offenses are encouraged so we don’t have to dig) (and if there are actual threats, crimes or blackmail attempts, etc we will investigate and cooperate with authorities), rest assured that what you talk about in private is PRIVATE. That’s the whole point of being here on this site. To TALK freely - we aren’t the thought police. Just follow the rules of the forum in your public interactions.
