Optimum Story Length

That’s the gist. Looking to read ideas from readers about how long or short they prefer a piece of fiction to be. The poll is too narrow a medium to give precise feedback, so please leave a comment, there are no wrong answers. I know sometimes I look at a story from a writer I know I like, see that it’s twelve pages long, and exit out of it thinking “I’ll sit down with it later” and then sometimes never do. So please leave your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

I need to think about voting, a story should have so much room as to tell the story the author wants to tell, with a beginning, middle and end. If the characters or setting is intriguing I don’t even mind if the first nipples show up way past page four.
I enjoy short well written stories as much as long ones.

Idk about "pages" because that's so vague, but I vary typically between 1-3k words, usually with minimal setup, focusing more on the emotional states than the acts themselves. I like to know how the victim feels so I can put myself in their place. Longer stories I've enjoyed as long as it remains tightly focused. I don't think I've enjoyed a single long rape story with a complex plot. I have enjoyed long ones like Beaten Broken Josie, Raped Virgin Cheerleader, and Taken at a Rest stop.

I give stuff a quick look over and if it looks like it would be too long then I decide whether or not I feel like reading something long, if I like the author enough (they tend to keep me interested.) I prefer the stuff be in chapters though as well instead of one long piece. I like smaller bites instead of one big meal. But then again that's just me.

Most of my stories are done in chapter fashion. I like building up to the action. Not all of my stories are that way, but most are.

vile8r it occurs quite frequently with mine as well, i typically make breaks when I get tired of typing.

What I found interresting is how the opinions differ from a similar poll of mine dealing with the posting of old stories.

I don't mind waiting four pages for a nipple , but if the story's good and the characters are well-developed and engaging I don't need a nipple. And I 💓 nipples more than just about anything! If I'm specifically craving erotica I like it when a story gets to the point but I also enjoy some skillful buildup, a little foreplay to get me wet and wanting. I'm not sure that answers the question. Just a dumb reader here. 🙂

I know I tend to write longer stories than I typically read. I'd say around 2000 words is good with more focus on the act than the setup.
