So since the, now defuncted site went down before we had a winner in the story contest we decided to give the win to the two entries who were tied for the lead when it disappeared. @Shocker and @KittyUmbrass congrats to both of you.

The prompts for September/October were picked by @Panthers70 . He chose 'Family', 'drugged', and 'birthday'. The words don't necessarily have to be in the story but the concepts do. We are going with 9k words. Please help me thanking @Panthers70 Happy writing and good luck to all.

Does anybody know what the maximum post length with this forum software is? 9000 words might easily exceed that.

Shocker If that turns out to be the case, break the story into chucks and post it that way, I’d think? We do that anyway, with serials. ‘The Applicant’ was north of 13k words, last I looked.

Shocker There does not appear to be an exact character limit; rather a post must be able to fit into a MySQL mediumtext column, which is 16777215 bytes (approx. 16MiB). But that does not translate directly to a character limit because some formatting data needs to fit in there. I think you won't have to worry about running into that limit unless your story is approaching novel length.

Tinman that is what i expect that i have to do, but I like to plan for those breaks in my stories, hence my question if somebody knows what the post limit is.

Seriously thank you, i have been running in other forums into trouble around the 4000 word mark. But my worries are laud to rest.

I tried to answer my own question experimentally and managed to get an answer. Trying to post my longest story (an english vacation in a single post) resulted in

The content must not be greater than 65535 characters

That story was a mere 15000 words, so now we know for sure.

Shocker Interesting that the message length is exactly the maximum value of a 16-bit unsigned integer. I wonder at which layer that limitation is imposed, and why. 🤔

I'd like to submit last day of vacation for consideration. Overall word count is 7,277 words.
I might have been premature with marking the story as contest entry. But I'm fairly certain to have met Family, Birthday and drugged as concepts.

As I'm using the vacation theme again, I'm likely burning all my chances of organizing trips for the lovely ladies here.
