I hear you on the legalities of things, and right or wrong we follow the rules of the USA and our HOST. We don’t have a choice, even if we wanted to host things that are to some, questionable. I know that there are a lot of movies, plays and books that involve people under the age of 18 - but that isn’t our issue. What IS is what we allow on our board according to, again, US law and our HOST.
I know this is a discussion of the differences between our rules and those of other sites, and whether they be in line with the current definition of the law as it stands today, but this discussion is taking a turn toward someone suggesting, out loud and on our board, that someone should create another space on which to trade UA content. I feel the need to state once more, with feeling even, that we will not, and will never be a party to, creating an off-site chat or forum that is associated with our name. It’s a free country and anyone who feels like there should be another option should absolutely go create your own, with your own rules, your own money and ownership of the legal consequences.
We provide the space and the boundaries under which to operate, and if that isn’t agreeable to anyone then they can create their own and deal with the cost, time, and legal problems that may arise.
Believe it or not, we did extensive planning and research before setting this place up. We have done so in the most secure manner possible. We have a very competent technical admin (for free even, thank you @ZipTiesThatBind ) that knows his shit. We have control over our own data. Nothing is shared. Our chat (as aggravating as it can be) is self-hosted to prevent snooping on conversations. Additionally, our host is one that specifically caters to porn. We keep specific “triggering” tags unavailable to guest view. We’ve done all we can to fly under the radar of the morality police so we can keep operating without the issues that have plagued other forums like ours.
With the cooperation of our members, we hope to keep this place going for a loooong time. So while I understand the sentiments…. this isn’t the place to discuss other forums rules and issues, or the place to talk about creating work-arounds. The more discussion there is, the more we run the risk of having someone take issue with it, and try to shut us down. Bluntly, I’m going to have to start deleting posts and locking threads that might be a security risk. Things like this are better kept to private messages.
